Hi!
I wrote a very fancy About Me introduction in Word, then I closed the document and hit “Don’t Save” by mistake, because I had a few other documents open and I didn’t pay attention to what I was doing at that moment. I believe that says everything you need to know about me: I like writing, I am impulsive, I sometimes don’t pay enough attention, and I often act hastily.
But in case you wonder… it was a good one. I told you about my parents – the golden girl of the town and the “bad boy”, already divorced – from whom I’ve inherited not only the expected emotional issues of an offspring of such an intense union, but also very practical skills like driving, assembling furniture, being creative, and poetic. One taught me how to be gentle, and the other – how to hit someone with a fist, without breaking a thumb.
The duality of my character was evident in the way my father could not decide whether to call me “princess” or “little devil”, so he would alternate between the two pet names until the very end, when he left us. I, on the other hand, am still going full force, being sweet and sour at the same time.
A nib is the steel tongue of thought. An ember is the stubborn heart of fire.
Nib and Ember is the culmination of a very long journey of writing and creating content for different platforms throughout the years. I have been writing for various blogs ever since the option of having your own space on the Internet became available and accessible to the masses.
It’s “the steel tongue of thought” because Nib stands for the creative expression of the writer in me, and “the stubborn heart of fire” because even though I got burnt by life, I still radiate light and warmth, like an Ember does.
A smart person would know that both a nib and an ember could be used as weapons for destruction: one could mess with the mind, and the other, when left unattended, burns the village down. My goal here is the opposite: I want to inspire and support those who find something here that is worth their time – through being seen, through being validated, or simply through some ideas about having a good time in Vienna or making special moments for yourself at home, alone or with friends.
Feel free to tell me about yourself, what brought you here, and what keeps you going in this beautiful, yet cynical, life.
With Joy,
NIB & Ember
A journey of growing and becoming
